{"id":44532,"date":"2024-08-21T09:05:06","date_gmt":"2024-08-21T09:05:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=44532"},"modified":"2024-08-21T09:05:06","modified_gmt":"2024-08-21T09:05:06","slug":"two-new-universities-to-begin-academic-activities-in-2025-ebonyi-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/08\/21\/two-new-universities-to-begin-academic-activities-in-2025-ebonyi-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"Two New Universities to Begin Academic Activities in 2025 &#8211; Ebonyi Govt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prof. Amari Omaka, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Ebonyi State, has declared that the state&#8217;s two newly formed universities will begin academic activities early next year.<\/p>\n<p>Omaka talked with reporters shortly after the swearing-in ceremony for the interim vice chancellors of the University of Information Communication Technology, Oferekpe-Agbaja, and the University of Aeronautical Engineering, Ezza, at the New Government House in Centenary City, Abakaliki.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioner added that all required preparations have been made to guarantee that universities are ready for their initial student admission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur initial target was for the universities to take off by September, but it appears that may not be realistic because a lot of things have to be done,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted the continuous construction of academic buildings and the creation of university master plans as the reason for the delay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor things to be ready for the students to come into the university, I don\u2019t expect them to go maybe later than early next year,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that the newly appointed acting vice chancellors, Prof. Ernest Egba for the University of Information Communication Technology and Prof. Patrick Nwofe for the University of Aeronautical Engineering, have responsibilities that extend beyond academic leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis appointment is not to come and drink tea, but to come and work,\u201d Prof. Omaka stated.<\/p>\n<p>He asked them to collaborate with relevant authorities, notably the National Universities Commission (NUC), to obtain the necessary approvals and ensure the universities&#8217; smooth operation.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Ernest Egba, acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Information Communication Technology, expressed his commitment to achieving the university&#8217;s purpose.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m overwhelmed by what happened, and I promise to do my best to keep the flag flying,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed confidence in ensuring that the institution runs well. &#8220;I believe with so many intellectuals around me, we will move mountains and level the mountains,&#8221; according to him.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, the acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Aeronautical Engineering, Prof. Patrick Nwofe<\/p>\n<p>vowed to carry out his tasks in accordance with the state&#8217;s educational aims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will perform my duties as expected and ensure that the people\u2019s charter of needs mantra concerning education, for which, today, I have been given a special assignment, is fulfilled,\u201d Prof. Nwofe stated.<\/p>\n<p>He assured that his efforts would make both the state and the world proud of the university.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe university will be a world-class institution,\u201d he affirmed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prof. Amari Omaka, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Ebonyi State, has declared that the state&#8217;s two newly formed universities will begin academic activities early next year.
