British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, his 18-year-old daughter Hannah, and four others are missing after their luxury yacht, the 56-meter British-flagged “Bayesian,” sank during a fierce storm off the coast of Sicily on August 19. Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, was among the 15 people rescued by the Italian coast guard.<\/p>\n

The yacht, which had a crew of 10 and 12 passengers, was hit by a sudden storm and a waterspout while moored off Porticello. Rescue operations, including helicopters and boats, have been ongoing, but so far only one body, believed to be the ship’s cook, has been recovered.<\/p>\n

Salvo Cocina, head of Sicily’s Civil Protection Agency, mentioned that the survivors were fortunate, as a nearby ship, the “Sir Robert Baden Powell,” assisted in their rescue. Eight survivors were hospitalized, while the others were taken to a hotel. The search continues for the missing individuals, with divers attempting to reach the yacht’s hull, now resting 50 meters underwater.<\/p>\n
