Prince Emmanuel Odigie, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, has raised concerns about an alleged plan by the Presidency to rig the upcoming governorship election in favor of the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Odigie, who served as a Deputy Director General in the Tinubu\/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, made the claims on Arise News Channel’s “The Morning Show” program on Thursday, August 15, 2024.<\/p>\n
According to Odigie, some forces within the Presidency, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, have colluded with APC leaders in Edo State to manipulate the election outcome while President Tinubu is away on a trip. Odigie also alleged plans to deploy security agencies to intimidate voters and influence the election result.<\/p>\n
Odigie, a member of the APC integrity group in Edo State, warned that Edo people in diaspora have petitioned international agencies about the planned rigging. He urged President Tinubu to prevent forces within the presidency from subverting the will of Edo people.<\/p>\n
Odigie, who has publicly supported the PDP governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, clarified that he remains an APC member and loyal supporter of President Tinubu. He justified his support for Ighodalo, citing his proven track record and desire to see Edo grow.<\/p>\n
