The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has taken action to address the persistent traffic congestion on the roads leading to the Lagos Port Complex (LPC) by temporarily suspending the release of flatbed trucks from Satellite truck parks to Pre-gate.<\/p>\n
In an official notice directed to truck drivers, owners, and stakeholders, the Truck Transit Parks (TTP) management, acting on behalf of the NPA, announced the synchronization of truck release from pre-gates with truck admissions at various terminals.<\/p>\n
Under this new arrangement, some delays in releasing trucks from satellite parks to pre-gates are expected as the system adapts to align truck admittance with the respective terminals.<\/p>\n
An excerpt from the notice states: “Following the resolution of the Ero Call up Project Implementation Committee (PIC) on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, regarding the need for improved traffic management along the LPC road corridor, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has directed a temporary halt to the process of releasing flatbed trucks from Satellite parks to the pre-gates at LPC.<\/p>\n
“From now on, the release of trucks from Satellite truck parks to the pre-gates will be dynamically revised to align with the demonstrated truck admittance by the respective terminals.<\/p>\n
“This directive will come into effect immediately starting from Sunday, November 5, 2023, and some level of delays in releasing trucks from Satellite parks to the pre-gates should be expected and managed accordingly.<\/p>\n
“All stakeholders and the entire trucking community are urged to take note of this change and ensure proper planning in anticipation of subsequent bookings.”<\/p>\n
However, there have been reports of protests from some truck drivers who view these changes as unfair.
