The political landscape of the All Progressives Congress (APC) saw a significant boost yesterday with the high-profile defection of Hon. Omosede Igbinedion, daughter of the Esama of Benin and former member of the House of Representatives. Igbinedion, who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led her supporters into the APC, marking a notable shift in political allegiance.<\/p>\n
Igbinedion was formally welcomed at the Edo South senatorial district’s flag-off event for the APC governorship campaign. The rally, held at the Ekheuan Campus of the University of Benin, featured a strong critique of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s nearly eight-year administration. APC leaders from the 77 wards within Edo South gathered to show support and discuss the party’s future plans.<\/p>\n
During the event, APC gubernatorial candidate Sen. Monday Okpebholo unveiled a comprehensive five-point manifesto. His plan emphasizes key areas such as security, infrastructural development, education, agriculture, and water provision. Okpebholo\u2019s manifesto aims to address pressing issues and enhance the quality of life for residents.<\/p>\n
Former APC governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu declared that the era of the PDP in Edo State is coming to an end. He spoke passionately about the need for a change in governance and underscored the APC\u2019s commitment to transforming the state.<\/p>\n
Adding to the day’s events, Hon. Charles Idahosa, a recent returnee to the APC and former PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) member, called for a debate between APC’s Okpebholo and PDP\u2019s Asue Ighodalo.
