He feels that his experience has given him invaluable insight into running a school board.

The effects of the new SUBEB will soon be felt. We’ll be stricter with staff discipline going forward. We are aware of the issues where certain individuals receive salaries even if they never show up for work. I’ll make sure to take this subject seriously when it comes to phantom workers.

We know there are ghost workers, so I’ll make sure we relocate to schools and cut down on them. He mentioned that the board wants to build new schools and renovate existing ones in order to have a major influence with the 2024 intervention.

“I encountered roughly 49 occupations on the ground, together with equipment and book supplies. As a result, this year’s efforts will roughly double those of last year, meaning that more schools throughout the state will be reached and that the impact will be higher. Compared to last year, when we had roughly 100 jobs, we are aiming to have about 49 jobs.

“You will soon hear a jingle in every major language spoken in Cross River, including Efik, Bekwarra, and Ejagham, sponsored by SUBEB, urging parents to make sure their children attend school and not turn them into hawkers while their peers attend classes.”

In order to move the state from its current position of disadvantage to the top, the chairman promised to boost its educational standing.

We wish to change the course of history since we are aware that Anambra state is the top academic region in Nigeria. Cross River wants to be at the top, and in order for us to succeed, we must make sure that everyone is working together.

Encouraging our kids to attend school is important, but so is ensuring that infrastructure is developed to the point that our schools can compete with those in other regions of the state. Our goals are to upgrade the infrastructure and enrollment rates.

In addition, Esu expressed his displeasure with the poor teacher-to-student ratio and promised to take action on it while serving as executive chairman.

Chairman of the Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Esu Effiong Esu, has revealed a strategy to drastically reduce the number of ghost workers in the primary education sector in all 18 local government areas of the state as part of his anti-ghost workers campaign.
