President Bola Tinubu has officially commissioned the first batch of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The initiative is part of the government\u2019s efforts to alleviate transportation challenges, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).<\/p>\n

The initial batch comprises 20 buses, all produced locally by Innoson Motors, a leading Nigerian automobile manufacturer. The move is seen as a significant step towards promoting sustainable transportation in the country, following the removal of fuel subsidies on May 29, 2023.<\/p>\n

During the commissioning ceremony, five of the CNG buses were driven to the forecourt of the Presidential Villa, where President Tinubu took a brief pause from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting to inaugurate them.<\/p>\n

The deployment of these CNG buses was one of the demands made by organized labor groups in response to the removal of fuel subsidies. This development follows a recent meeting between President Tinubu and the Chairman and CEO of Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, at the Presidential Villa.<\/p>\n
