The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that 39 people have been killed in inter-clan clashes in Somalia over the past two months. The conflicts, primarily driven by land disputes, have also led to significant displacement of populations.<\/p>\n

According to the OCHA, 35 people were killed in the Mudug region of central Somalia, while another four lost their lives in the Luuq area of southern Somalia. The violence has displaced over 42,000 people, including women, children, and the elderly. Many of these newly displaced individuals were already struggling, having been previously displaced by floods.<\/p>\n

The situation in the Mudug region was particularly dire, with clashes between June 26 and July 2 forcing over 26,000 people to flee their homes. Among them, approximately 30 percent were herders who managed to escape with their livestock. In total, the recent armed conflicts and climate shocks have affected around 96,000 families in Galmudug State.<\/p>\n
