This announcement follows a recent meeting between the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and Julius Berger representatives, where they addressed delays in various road projects due to several challenges.<\/p>\n
Umahi, who recently visited the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, commended Julius Berger for their work quality. However, he emphasized the need to complete one carriageway before progressing to the next. He also instructed the contractor to fill and level both carriageways with a stone base within three weeks to minimize road user inconvenience.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe project section managed by Julius Berger will last 14 months, divided into four phases. We will provide N20 billion each month to ensure timely completion,\u201d Umahi stated.<\/p>\n
This initiative reflects the federal government’s commitment to reviewing ongoing federal road projects, ensuring contractors adhere to performance standards and deadlines.<\/p>\n
In late July 2024, Umahi announced the start of dualization on the unfinished sections of the 375.9 km Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Federal Highway, with Julius Berger handling 82 km of the route. The company is expected to finish their section by May 2025.
