Lamido Sanusi, a former Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has called on the current CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, to implement strategic measures aimed at reducing inflation rates in the country.<\/p>\n
Sanusi, who led the Impact Investing Community team to the CBN headquarters in Abuja, made this call last week. He emphasized the need for the new leadership at the CBN to effectively and persistently work towards reducing inflation rates, as these high rates have had a detrimental impact on individual wealth.<\/p>\n
In his statement, Sanusi acknowledged the importance of long-term planning by the CBN to achieve its goals. He also stressed the significance of the fiscal authorities’ focus on areas such as agriculture and education, with a particular emphasis on the girl-child’s education.<\/p>\n
Sanusi noted, “The Bank’s activities have a massive impact on the lives of Nigerians, and many people often do not recognize the influence of a Central Bank’s work until a Central Bank fails.”<\/p>\n
Olayemi Cardoso, the current CBN Governor, expressed his commitment to the core mandate of ensuring price stability under his leadership. He pledged that his team would work diligently to change the narrative about the CBN and make the apex bank more impactful in the lives of Nigerians by addressing inflation.<\/p>\n
He stated, “At the end of our tenure, we want to look back and see that our policies have positively impacted people’s lives.”<\/p>\n
Cardoso also expressed his gratitude to the Impact Investing Community for visiting the CBN, acknowledging their potential to transform Nigeria’s economy by tapping into investment opportunities both within the country and globally.<\/p>\n
Ibukun Awosika, the Chairperson of the Impact Investing Community, emphasized their willingness to support the CBN and the Federal Government’s efforts to improve Nigeria’s investment climate.
