A former governor of Edo State and senator representing Edo-North on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has distributed 1,200 bags of NPK 50kg fertiliser to farmers in his constituency.<\/p>\n
Mr Oshiomhole was represented by the Chairman of the Committee for the distribution of the fertiliser, Abubakar Akokhia.<\/p>\n
He said that each beneficiary would also receive a token amount\u00a0of money for\u00a0the transport of the fertilisers to their respective communities.<\/p>\n
He stated, \u201cThe distribution of the fertilisers is aimed at cushioning the effects of hardship on farmers in Edo North. The idea is to boost the agricultural\u00a0activities of the people of the senatorial district.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
Mr Oshiomhole said the commodity was distributed across party lines as he now represents the interest of all the constituents.<\/p>\n
He urged the beneficiaries not to resell the fertiliser, but apply it on their crops to\u00a0increase food production in the senatorial district.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe distribution of fertiliser is to support farmers to cushion economic effects on food production. The fertiliser is from the Federal Government and\u00a0 is aimed at enhancing food security,\u201d Mr Oshiomhole said.<\/p>\n
He, therefore, charged beneficiaries to enhance the efforts of the Federal Government by using the input rather than resell them.<\/p>\n
Some of the farmers that benefited pledged to reciprocate the gesture of the Federal Government and the senator, which they described as timely for the farming season.<\/p>\n
