This reform has now paved the way for the reconstruction of Nigeria’s transportation sector, transitioning away from heavy reliance on foreign-imported Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel. As Engineer Oluwagbemi eloquently puts it, the previous dependency amounted to “importing poverty while exporting jobs.”

The mission of P-CNGi is unequivocal: to harness the potential of natural gas to invigorate local employment and enhance energy accessibility across Nigeria. Compressed Natural Gas, renowned for its environmentally friendly attributes and cost-effectiveness, is poised to propel a paradigm shift in Nigeria’s energy landscape. As CNG increasingly fulfills the nation’s energy requisites, it is poised to reduce the dependence on expensive imports, ushering in a new wave of employment prospects for the Nigerian populace.

The event was graced with the presence of notable figures, including the Director-General of the National Institute for Transport Technology, Dr. Bayero Salih-Farah, Toyin Subair, Senior Special Assistant to the President on SpecialDuties and Domestic Affairs, Cynthia Ahigbe, Acting Director of Road Transport and Mass Rapid Administration, representing the Permanent Secretary and the Minister of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, as well as Dr. Abubakar O. Sadiq, the Deputy National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). Collectively, they echoed their support for the transformative vision that CNG adoption promises to bring to Nigeria’s economic landscape.

The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi) has announced that the widespread adoption of compressed natural gas (CNG) will be a keystone for promoting job creation throughout the country, marking a significant step towards bolstering Nigeria’s economic prosperity and fortifying its energy sector.
