In response to the escalating violence and looting in Jos\/Bukuru Metropolis, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has imposed a 24-hour curfew, effective midnight of Sunday, August 4, 2024. This decisive action was taken after thorough consultation with state security agencies and a comprehensive review of the situation.<\/p>\n
Governor Mutfwang condemned the actions of criminal elements who exploited the nationwide protest to wreak havoc on innocent citizens. These individuals, armed with dangerous weapons such as daggers and machetes, targeted shops and restaurants along Bauchi Road and Zololo Junction, making off with foodstuffs and other valuable items.<\/p>\n
The curfew aims to restore peace and order in the affected areas, ensuring the safety and security of all residents. The Governor’s swift response demonstrates his commitment to protecting the citizens of Plateau State and maintaining stability in the region.<\/p>\n
Mutfwang, in a statement by his spokesman Gyang Bere, emphasised that the curfew was in the best interest of all citizens and urged everyone to comply fully to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.<\/p>\n
