The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign council has strongly refuted claims made by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) regarding an alleged plot to arrest its leaders ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the spokesman and director of media and publicity for the APC, the party accused the SDP of fearmongering and asserted that no amount of falsehood would prevent a peaceful election in the state.<\/p>\n
Fanwo commented, “Our attention has been drawn to a spurious allegation by the discredited merchant of falsehood in Kogi politics, the Social Democratic Party, suggesting that Governor Yahaya Bello is planning to arrest SDP leaders on fabricated charges of terrorism. This is another example of falsehood from the overly ambitious group.”<\/p>\n
He continued, “Terrorism is a very serious national issue that shouldn’t be trivialized by any group, no matter how confused. However, the SDP seems willing to go to great lengths to portray themselves as serious contenders, despite knowing they have no chance in the forthcoming governorship election.”<\/p>\n
The APC urged the security agencies to investigate the individuals responsible for the allegations and encouraged them to present factual evidence to support their claims. The party dismissed the allegations as an attention-seeking and fabricated lie, designed to create panic and divert attention from the SDP’s actual plans for the election.<\/p>\n
The APC further reminded Kogi voters of the progress made in the state over the past seven years and cautioned them against being misled by the SDP’s propaganda and falsehoods.
