The attack, which occurred in Southport, a coastal town in northwest England, resulted in the deaths of three young girls\u2014aged 6, 7, and 9.<\/p>\n<p>Merseyside Police confirmed that the 9-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries in a regional hospital the day after the attack. Five other children and two adults remain in critical condition. A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and murder, and a knife was recovered at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Instagram, Swift described the ongoing horror of the situation, saying, \u201cThe horror of yesterday\u2019s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I\u2019m just completely in shock. The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone involved\u2014families, first responders\u2014are devastating.
