The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised its concerns over the recent judgments delivered by the Court of Appeal regarding the Plateau State Senatorial and House of Representatives elections. PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, addressed these issues during a press conference in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Expressing deep apprehension over the perceived inconsistency in the judgments, Ologunagba called for a thorough review of the cases and, in a bold move, demanded the disbandment of the panel of justices responsible for these decisions.<\/p>\n

Ologunagba asserted, “The people of Plateau State are unsettled by allegations in the public domain that the Plateau State Election Appeal Court Panel has been hugely compromised and induced by the failed All Progressives Congress in Plateau State to undermine the will of the people by snatching elections clearly won by the PDP and awarding them to the APC, as now evidenced in its inexplicable varying judgments on the same election context and circumstances.”<\/p>\n

He went on to cite specific instances, saying, “In the case of Plateau North Senatorial District, won by Senator Simon Mwadkwon of the PDP, and with the APC candidate coming in third, the panel delivered a judgment on Sunday, 22nd October 2023, curiously annulling PDP’s victory and ordering INEC to conduct a rerun election involving all the parties.”<\/p>\n

Continuing, Ologunagba pointed out another troubling case, stating, “In the case of Jos North\/Bassa Federal Constituency, won by Hon. Musa Agar of the PDP, where the APC candidate also came third, the panel, in its judgment delivered on Friday, 27th October 2023, annulled the victory of the PDP and ordered a rerun, excluding the PDP.”<\/p>\n

Lastly, he highlighted the situation in the Shendam\/Quaan-Pan\/Mikang Federal Constituency, saying, “In the third appeal case, won by Hon. Isaac Kwallu of the PDP with John Dafwan of the APC as the runner-up, the Appeal Court justices annulled the victory of the PDP candidate, declared the APC candidate as the outright winner, and ordered that the Certificate of Return issued to the victorious PDP candidate be withdrawn and a fresh Certificate of Return issued to the APC candidate.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
