Following the signing, Senate President Akpabio spoke to State House Correspondents, expressing his happiness for Nigerian workers. He emphasized that the government had more than doubled the wage benchmark, adding additional funds to it.

Akpabio also addressed those planning a national protest, cautioning them to exercise their right to protest within the bounds of the law and to avoid violence or destructive actions. He noted that the current challenges facing the country were not caused by the present administration and warned that violence would hinder efforts to rebuild the nation.

“I’m ecstatic. He stressed that the economic challenges were the result of years of insecurity and other factors beyond the control of the current administration.

Akpabio called on the youth to focus on constructive actions that would contribute to national development rather than engaging in destructive protests. He assured that the government is committed to improving the lives of Nigerians and urged the public to support these efforts.

The new minimum wage bill, which was swiftly passed by the National Assembly, comes at a critical time as the nation faces various economic challenges.
