{"id":40559,"date":"2024-07-25T13:48:01","date_gmt":"2024-07-25T13:48:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=40559"},"modified":"2024-07-25T13:48:01","modified_gmt":"2024-07-25T13:48:01","slug":"man-pleads-guilty-to-stealing-girlfriends-n342000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/07\/25\/man-pleads-guilty-to-stealing-girlfriends-n342000\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Pleads Guilty to Stealing Girlfriend\u2019s N342,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aman, Caleb Williams, 27, on Thursday in Kaduna, pleaded guilty to stealing N342,000 and other valuables belonging to his girlfriend.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Williams, who was arraigned before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court,\u00a0pleaded guilty to the\u00a0one-count charge of stealing preferred against him.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, did not deliver judgment, but adjourned the case until August 12, for review of facts and sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 20, at Gbagyi Villa, No. 10, Luka Barde\u00a0St., Kaduna.<\/p>\n<p>Leo said that the accused stole the sum of N342,000, an Ecobank ATM card, voter\u2019s card and deposit slips belonging to one Miss Rosemary James, his girlfriend.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the offence is punishable under Section 217 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017, which prescribes five year jail term if found guilty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aman, Caleb Williams, 27, on Thursday in Kaduna, pleaded guilty to stealing N342,000 and other valuables belonging to his girlfriend.
