Alhaji Sulaiman Jimoh, widely known as Olowoidiogede or Temo, the notorious head of the Mushin drug cartel in Lagos, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The 57-year-old drug kingpin had long eluded capture, earning a reputation as Lagos’ most wanted criminal.<\/p>\n
Temo’s arrest came after a dramatic sequence of events on Monday, July 22, 2024. For years, the NDLEA had been engaged in a relentless pursuit of Temo, intercepting large consignments of illicit drugs valued in the billions of naira. Despite several close encounters and fierce gunfights with his armed gangs in the Mushin area, he managed to evade capture.<\/p>\n
The turning point came when NDLEA surveillance teams, equipped with advanced tools and intelligence, finally tracked Temo down at Igbarere Street in Mushin. At around 10 a.m., a coordinated operation led to his capture. Temo, attempting to flee in a Mercedes Benz SUV GLE 350 marked 01G-300G, mobilized his gang to distract the operatives. However, their efforts were thwarted by a reinforced team of about 50 NDLEA operatives.<\/p>\n
The ensuing chaos saw Temo\u2019s attempt to escape fail, leading to his overpowering and arrest. His gang members, outmatched by the superior firepower of the anti-narcotic agents, eventually surrendered. The NDLEA also successfully recovered the Mercedes Benz SUV used by Temo.<\/p>\n
In response to Temo’s capture, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman\/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, praised the Lagos State Command, the Special Monitoring Task Force, and other units involved for their perseverance, vigilance, and professionalism.
