In a statement released by Ohanaeze’s National Publicity Secretary, Alex Ogbonnia, the organization emphasized that the current difficulties are a result of systemic marginalization and ethnic bigotry, which they refer to as “Igbophobia.” The statement noted that protests involving Igbo youths often result in harsher repercussions compared to those involving youths from other ethnic groups.<\/p>\n

Ohanaeze’s President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, reiterated this stance, highlighting past incidents where Igbo youths faced severe consequences for their involvement in protests, such as the arrest and detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
