A lone accident that occurred on the campus of the University of Ilorin on Thursday claimed one life while nine others sustained various degrees of injury.<\/p>\n
The accident involved a ten-seater commercial bus that was conveying passengers from the campus to the town after the day\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
A statement signed by the Director, Corporate Affairs of the University, Kunle Akogun, said that \u201cthe lone accident involved a commercial bus conveying ten passengers going out of the campus.<\/p>\n
He, however, did not identify whether the victim of the accident was a student or worker of the institution.<\/p>\n
The management of the University of Ilorin is saddened to announce the occurrence of a motor accident on campus this afternoon.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs soon as it occurred, the University Management immediately commenced rescue operations, and all the victims were moved to the University Health Centre. They were attended to by a team of medical personnel at the University Health Centre,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
He said that while one person lost his life in the accident, five sustained serious injuries.<\/p>\n
Akogun said, \u201cOne of them needed advanced treatment and was referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital after he was stabilised.<\/p>\n
\u201cFour had minor injuries, they were treated and discharged. Five victims, consisting of two males, two females, and the driver, are currently being treated at the University Health Centre.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately, one of the victims was brought in dead, the body has been transferred to the morgue, and the University management is making efforts to contact the next of kin.<\/p>\n
