The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticized the appointment of retired Chief Superintendent of Police, Adekunle Omoyele, as the Field Commander of the Osun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun.<\/p>\n

APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal released a statement on Monday, alleging that Omoyele’s professional history casts a shadow over his credibility and that of his employer. Governor Ademola Adeleke appointed Omoyele earlier in July, following the end of Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi’s tenure as the inaugural Field Commander.<\/p>\n

Lawal’s statement read, \u201cThe appointment of Omoyele as the state commandant of the Amotekun Corps is another misnomer and an unpardonable executive heresy which the infamous Governor Ademola Adeleke is known for in the eyes of the right-thinking members of the society.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He also argued that Omoyele’s appointment, despite public outcry, indicates Adeleke’s intention to manipulate the upcoming 2026 governorship election. Lawal further criticized the appointment of AIG Wale Abass, retired, from Ede, the governor’s hometown, as chairman of the Amotekun Corps, calling it an example of nepotism.<\/p>\n
