They said his decision to join the ruling party would further spur development in the South East region and Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Anyim, a former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), formally defected to APC in Ebonyi State on Saturday and was received by the party\u2019s national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">In a statement by his chief press secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, yesterday Kalu, who graced the event, said having served as Senate President in the Legislature and SGF under the Executive Arm of government, Anyim is bringing his great wealth of experience to bear in the progress and development of the nation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Kalu said, \u201cIt is my pleasure to welcome my big brother, the former Senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, to our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">\u201cThis decision is indeed a step in the right direction for the future of the Southeast and our nation, Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">\u201cWith your experience and leadership, I believe this step will inspire other leaders to join hands in unity for the growth and development of our nation. Welcome to APC, Distinguished Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">For his part, Ganduje described Anyim\u2019s coming to the APC as a massive blessing to the party owing to his wealth of experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Ganduje, who received the ex-Senate President alongside other defectors, expressed delight over the development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">\u201cToday, I\u2019m elated to welcome such an important personality to our party. On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I want to assure you that you are welcome to the largest political party in black and white Africa.
