A fire outbreak, suspected to be the work of unidentified arsonists, has severely damaged a section of the palace at Gidan Rumfa, where the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, resides.<\/p>\n

According to a source, the fire affected the palace located at Kofar Kudu, where the Emir holds court sessions every Monday. The source explained, \u201cIt was the palace at Kofar Kudu. The palace has an entrance from inside while the main entrance is from the front (outside). The key was forced open, and it\u2019s suspected that they broke in, set the fire, and locked the door.\u201d<\/p>\n

The source further stated that the throne, air conditioners, and other valuables in the palace were destroyed in the fire.<\/p>\n

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, stated that the command was unaware of the incident as there had been no emergency calls regarding the fire at any of their centers.<\/p>\n

However, Munir Sanusi Bayero, the Chief of Staff to the Emir, confirmed the incident in a statement. He said, \u201cOn Saturday, 13th July 2024, a fire incident occurred at the outer court of His Highness\u2019s Palace, Kofar Kudu.
