A socio-cultural organization, Aka Igbo, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to remove the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Aboki Danjuma, citing multiple allegations of misconduct.<\/p>\n

The group claims that CP Danjuma has repeatedly arrested and detained innocent individuals on the orders of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, since his re-election in November 2023. Additionally, they accuse him of human rights abuses and detaining people for over three months without trial.<\/p>\n

The petition states: \u201cIt is sad to note that rather than protect innocent lives and property of people of the state and checkmate the excesses and activities of members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN\/Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, who have allegedly been killing men of the Armed Force as well as other security operatives, the CP who has turned himself to the governor\u2019s puppet, is busy detaining government appointees and APC members contrary to Section 4 of the Police Act.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group highlighted a specific incident from November 2023, when the commissioner allegedly arrested Noble Atulegwu, the former Commissioner for Lands in Imo State, on the governor’s orders. While in custody, Atulegwu reportedly fell ill and had to be rushed to the police clinic.<\/p>\n
