The Federal Government on Friday launched the nationwide distribution of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, igniting celebration and enthusiasm among citizens in a monumental occasion that marked a critical milestone in Nigeria’s transport sector. Captured in spectacular images, the event which was held at the State House, Abuja marked the start of a new era in environmentally friendly and sustainable public transport.<\/p>\n

The introduction of CNG buses is part of the government’s broader strategy to address environmental concerns, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance the overall quality of life for Nigerians. Compressed Natural Gas is renowned for its clean-burning properties, which significantly lower emissions harmful to the environment and public health.<\/p>\n

The celebratory scenes at the launch event depicted the optimism and eagerness of the public, as they welcomed the transition to cleaner and more efficient transportation. The CNG buses, marked by their distinctive green and white colors, were hailed as a symbol of progress and a testament to the nation’s commitment to sustainable development.<\/p>\n

At the event were Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chairman of Nigerian Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq; Acting Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, representated by Executive Secretary of\u00a0Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (MDPRA) Mr. Farouk Ahmed, Programme Director of Presidential CNG Initiative, Engineer Michael Oluwagbemi among other other top government functionaries that graced the occasion.<\/p>\n
