{"id":38545,"date":"2024-07-12T08:35:21","date_gmt":"2024-07-12T08:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=38545"},"modified":"2024-07-12T08:35:21","modified_gmt":"2024-07-12T08:35:21","slug":"police-officer-shoots-player-after-league-match-in-brazil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/07\/12\/police-officer-shoots-player-after-league-match-in-brazil\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Officer Shoots Player After League Match In Brazil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Police officer shot a player after the final whistle of a second division game in Brazil on Wednesday.<br \/>\nGremio Anapolis goalkeeper Ramon Souza was hit by a rubber bullet fired from close range by a military police officer following a pitch-side scuffle.<\/p>\n<p>The incident, which occurred after Gremio Anapolis\u2019 2-1 loss to Centro Oeste, was captured in a shocking video.<br \/>\nThe viral clip appears to show players and staff from both Brazilian clubs arguing with one and other on the touchline, with the cause for the fracas yet to be reported.<\/p>\n<p>A police officer then opened fire and struck Souza in the thigh with a rubber bullet.<br \/>\nThe gunshot left Souza with a gruesome injury and saw the goalkeeper rushed to hospital after receiving first aid in an ambulance on site.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38546\" src=\"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/download-90.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><br \/>\nGremio released a statement on the club\u2019s social media platforms confirming the incident and announcing their intention to take measures to ensure the person responsible is punished.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read: \u201cThe Anapolis Guild comes to the public to repudiate the unfortunate, ridiculous and revolting event, at the Jonas Duarte Stadium, this Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the end of the match against Centro Oeste, our goalkeeper Ramon Souza was cowardly hit by a rubber bullet, carried out by a police officer.<br \/>\n\u201cA horrible, unbelievable and criminal act by someone who should value the safety and integrity of the people, who were there at the Jonas Duarte Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJuly 10th is marked by a violent, dirty and horrible act against one of our players, which will never be forgotten.<br \/>\n\u201cThe GEA informs that it will take competent measures, so that the responsible person is punished and that justice is done, so that this CRIMINAL act does not go unpunished.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Police officer shot a player after the final whistle of a second division game in Brazil on Wednesday.
