{"id":38336,"date":"2024-07-10T14:06:40","date_gmt":"2024-07-10T14:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=38336"},"modified":"2024-07-10T14:06:40","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T14:06:40","slug":"ukraines-president-pledges-to-rebuild-childrens-hospital-after-russian-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/07\/10\/ukraines-president-pledges-to-rebuild-childrens-hospital-after-russian-attack\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine&#8217;s President Pledges to Rebuild Children&#8217;s Hospital After Russian Attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to rebuild the children\u2019s hospital in Kyiv, which was severely damaged in a Russian missile attack earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Mr Zelensky promised help to all families whose relatives were killed or injured in the attack.<\/span>]<\/p>\n<div class=\"single-body\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to rebuild the children\u2019s hospital in Kyiv, which was severely damaged in a Russian missile attack earlier this week.<\/p>\n<div class=\"adredux after-para-one aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"adbox\">\n<div>Mr Zelensky said in a video message that some 100 million hryvnia (about $2.45 million) had already been allocated to support the hospital, and a further 300 million hryvnia would follow.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He promised help to all families whose relatives were killed or injured in the attack.<\/p>\n<p>The strike on the hospital was part of a wave of missile attacks that left more than 40 people killed and well over 100 injured across the country on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The shelling of the children\u2019s hospital and surrounding area, which left several people dead, provoked international outrage, including at the level of the UN Security Council.<\/p>\n<p>Moscow dismissed the Ukrainian response as a kind of public relations stunt.<\/p>\n<p>Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov blamed a stray missile from Ukraine\u2019s own air defences for the damage to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>He said that Kyiv was trying to exploit the tragedy to coincide with Mr Zelensky\u2019s participation in the NATO summit in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that at the summit on Tuesday, NATO countries announced that more air defence systems would be delivered to Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Zelensky, who is also attending, said the air defence systems would help ward off the kind of brutal attack that hit the paediatric hospital in Kyiv.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to rebuild the children\u2019s hospital in Kyiv, which was severely damaged in a Russian missile attack earlier this week.
