The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has assured residents that the sewage treatment plant in the Wupa district is operating optimally, dispelling rumors of its collapse. Felix Obuah, the coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), confirmed this after an inspection of the facility on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Obuah\u2019s visit followed alarming reports that the Wupa sewage treatment plant had collapsed, potentially leading to a cholera outbreak due to leakage. Addressing these concerns, Obuah clarified that the reports were false and baseless.<\/p>\n

\u201cI woke up Tuesday morning to read a disturbing misinformation in the form of a story that the main sewage treatment plant in the FCT has collapsed,\u201d said Mr Obuah.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI quickly called the director of Abuja Environmental Protection Board to ascertain the veracity of the story, and he said it was not true. To be extra sure, I decided to come unannounced to the treatment plant to see things for myself.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cI can tell you from what I have seen this morning that all the sections of the plant are working perfectly. All staff and hands are all working at their duty posts.\u201d<\/p>\n
