Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, a middle-aged man who climbed a high broadband mast at Aso Radio in Katampe, Abuja, in an apparent suicide attempt, has been sent for mental evaluation at the Social Development Secretariat (SDS).<\/p>\n
Yushau was taken into custody by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on Monday and will undergo a mental assessment to determine his state of mind during the incident.<\/p>\n
Eyewitnesses reported that Yushau scaled the mast, causing widespread panic and alarm among residents and passersby. The police were promptly alerted, and a team of officers was dispatched to the scene to persuade him to come down. After hours of negotiation, Yushau eventually descended from the mast and was taken into custody.<\/p>\n
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, stated on Tuesday that Yushau will face charges for attempted suicide, disturbance of public peace, and incitement if found mentally stable after the evaluation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspect, if found to be mentally stable after the test, will be charged in court for attempted suicide, disturbance of public peace, and incitement contrary to sections 231, 111, and 114 of the Penal Code Act,\u201d SP Adeh said.<\/p>\n
