The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has announced the arrest of five individuals in connection with a recent kidnapping in Abuja. This operation, carried out by operatives from the Utako Divisional Headquarters, marks a significant step in the command\u2019s ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity in the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n
According to a statement released on Thursday by SP Josephine Adeh, the command\u2019s Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation conducted between June 30 and July 3. The operation targeted the Gwagwa and Dei-Dei areas of Abuja, following credible intelligence that linked the suspects to the crime.<\/p>\n
The arrests are tied to a kidnapping incident that occurred on June 12 in Gwagwa, where a victim was abducted, and despite a ransom of N12 million being paid, two victims were tragically killed. The FCT Police spokesperson, SP Adeh, stated that the suspects are believed to be involved in multiple kidnappings and other serious criminal activities within the territory.<\/p>\n
During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered a substantial cache of weapons, including four AK-47 rifles, a dane gun, two magazines, and eight rounds of live ammunition. The suspects have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crimes.<\/p>\n
