Ufuoma Umurie, a twenty-eight-year-old boy, at about 2am on Wednesday butchered and killed his father, Rev. Isaac Umurie, a serving priest with the St. John\u2019s Anglican Church, Okpare-Olomu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.<\/p>\n
The incident caused serious tension within the community.<\/p>\n
Multiple sources in the community alleged that Ufuoma is suspected to be mentally unstable.<\/p>\n
Gory video of the murder obtained by Reporters, showed that the suspect used cutlass to slaughter his father\u2019s skull and other parts of his body while asleep.<\/p>\n
A source said that Umurie had been murdered by his son before neighbours could come for rescue.<\/p>\n
It was gathered that the suspect was alleged to have chased his mother while she was attempting to save the life of her husband, but narrowly escaped unhurt.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the second time Ufuoma is attacking his father. The other time, he beat him, and Okpare-Olomu vigilante held him, but the father pleaded that he should not be taken to the police station. We heard that he is not mentally stable.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn today\u2019s incident, he hacked the father with a cutlass, burst his skull, and mutilated other parts of his body. The priest has a few years to retire. He was brought closer home because of his retirement before this unfortunate incident,\u201d our source narrated.<\/p>\n
The suspect has been apprehended and handed over to the police at the Otu-Jeremi Divisional Headquarters for prosecution.<\/p>\n
SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, in a telephone chat with Our Correspondent confirmed the report.<\/p>\n
