The Initiative for the Alleviation of Vulnerable Persons from Poverty, a non-governmental organization, joined forces with Beacon Consulting, DME Group, and Womenovate to organize the “Ruga Food Drive” event in Abuja.<\/p>\n
The initiative successfully distributed essential food items to over 200 vulnerable households in the Ruga Community, a suburb within the Federal Capital Territory.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Juliana Okoro, the Executive Director of IAVPP, expressed that the primary objective of the food drive was to provide critical food supplies to those facing economic hardship and hunger within the community. She emphasized that this effort aimed to alleviate the impact of economic difficulties on the lives of the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
IAVPP has previously reached out to four communities in the FCT, distributing over 950 relief items to assist the underserved. The organization is committed to continuing such efforts to empower individuals and communities, improving their quality of life and ultimately eradicating extreme poverty.<\/p>\n
The distribution of food items not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters a sense of community support, building a more compassionate society that cares for its vulnerable members. The IAVPP executive director called for government involvement to combat hunger and food insecurity in the country, emphasizing the urgency of taking action.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Juliet Odogwu, the chairperson of IAVPP, emphasized that this food distribution would provide hope and boost the self-worth of vulnerable individuals, including men, women, and children. Food security and access to nutritious meals remain a growing concern in many Nigerian communities, and initiatives like the “Ruga Food Drive” contribute to the broader vision of achieving zero hunger.<\/p>\n
