The Ondo State House of Assembly has rekindled its efforts to investigate the allegations of gross misconduct against Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. In a fresh request addressed to Chief Judge Olusegun Odusola, the Assembly has called for the constitution of a panel to probe these allegations.<\/p>\n

This development unfolds in the midst of ongoing attempts by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to mediate in the escalating political discord within the state.<\/p>\n

Previously, the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, had established a powerful panel with the aim of resolving disputes involving Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa, the State Assembly, and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
However, the Ondo State House of Assembly, in a letter signed by Speaker Olamide Oladiji, asserted that the impeachment process resumed following the expiration of the ex parte order issued by the Federal High Court.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Titled “Request to constitute a seven-man panel to investigate the allegations of gross misconduct against the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, following the expiration of the interim injunction of the Federal High Court in suit FHC\/ABJ\/CS\/1294\/2023 by operation of the law,” the letter outlines the Assembly’s intentions.<\/p>\n

The letter states, “The Ondo State House of Assembly had, on 3rd October 2023, requested Your Lordship to constitute a seven-man panel to investigate the allegations of gross misconduct leveled by the House against the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, in line with Section 188 (5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It goes on to explain that the previously issued order from the Federal High Court had lapsed due to the operation of the law, and thus, the Assembly calls upon the Chief Judge to proceed with setting up the panel without further delay.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
