Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja made this announcement during the opening of the Maiden Cyber Security Workshop at the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare School in Abuja. The theme of the workshop, “Role of Information Technology in National Security Against Upcoming Threats and Cyber-Attacks,” underscores the importance of cybersecurity in modern defense strategies.<\/p>\n
The Chief of Army Staff was represented by Maj.-Gen. Sanusi Dahiru, the Deputy Director-General of the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre. During his address, Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja acknowledged that the Nigerian Army had faced challenges in the past when attempting to acquire electronic warfare capabilities. These challenges were attributed to the high cost of devices and a lack of technical expertise within the army. However, he emphasized that these limitations have been overcome.<\/p>\n

Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja stressed the importance of preparing the Nigerian Army to defend against these threats, and he credited the establishment of the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command (NACWC) and the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare School (NACWS) as significant steps in this direction.<\/p>\n
Brig.-Gen. Abdullahi Ahmad, the Commandant of NACWS, explained that the school’s establishment aims to build the capacity of army personnel to counter threats in the cyber domain effectively.
