The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has accused President Bola Tinubu of neglecting issues concerning Nigeria\u2019s university lecturers.<\/p>\n

During a peaceful protest on Tuesday, Professor Anthony Odiwe, Chairman of ASUU’s Obafemi Awolowo University branch, expressed frustration over the Federal Government’s failure to address longstanding concerns. He warned that without immediate attention to the 2021 draft agreement between ASUU and the government, the union would initiate a new nationwide strike.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is extremely important to state that all the issues that had always forced our members to embark on strike are still unattended up till now,\u201d Odiwe stated, listing unresolved matters such as unpaid salaries, promotion arrears, and the implementation of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) instead of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).<\/p>\n

Odiwe highlighted that ASUU has not met officially with President Tinubu since he took office, despite initial optimism. He emphasized that the union is now taking their grievances public to ensure Nigerians understand their position and do not blame ASUU for potential disruptions.<\/p>\n
