Speaking on the &#8217;90s Baby&#8217; podcast, the AMVCA winner recounted how one uncle even traveled for hours to punish him for academic shortcomings.<\/p>\n<p>Layi Wasabi recounted, &#8220;I had uncles that flogged me. One traveled for two hours from Ibadan to Oshogbo just to flog me. At the time, I passed biology and chemistry but failed physics and didn&#8217;t do well in mathematics. My mum was upset I wasn\u2019t taking school seriously, so she called one of my uncles. He said, &#8216;Don\u2019t worry, I\u2019ll be in Oshogbo tomorrow.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He continued, &#8220;I was the one who opened the gate for him and helped carry his luggage from the car. After settling down and drinking water, he asked for my report card. He reviewed it and said, &#8216;You failed physics, you didn\u2019t do well in mathematics.
