President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), pending Senate confirmation. This announcement was made in a press statement released on June 24, 2024, by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity.<\/p>\n

Mr. Bello, a lawyer, administrator, and renowned journalist, is the former Secretary to the Lagos State Government. He holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, where he also studied Law and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.<\/p>\n

Mr. Bello began his career in journalism at Concord Newspapers in 1985, where he served in various capacities, including Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor of National Concord. He is a recipient of the US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship and was appointed Chairman of the Editorial Board of THISDAY Newspapers in 2001. Additionally, he served as Commissioner for Environment under multiple administrations in Lagos State.<\/p>\n
