{"id":35817,"date":"2024-06-24T09:56:46","date_gmt":"2024-06-24T09:56:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=35817"},"modified":"2024-06-24T09:56:46","modified_gmt":"2024-06-24T09:56:46","slug":"dilapidated-road-delta-community-seeks-intervention-laments-bad-roads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/06\/24\/dilapidated-road-delta-community-seeks-intervention-laments-bad-roads\/","title":{"rendered":"Dilapidated Road: Delta Community Seeks Intervention, Laments Bad Roads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Onicha-Ugbo community residents in Aniocha north local government area of Delta State have lamented the dilapidated state of their major roads.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from being a major road connecting Onicha Ugbo and Issele Uku, the area begins from the local government headquarters in Issele-Uku and connects the home place of Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North senatorial district.<\/p>\n<p>The bad spot opposite Gbonoza Primary School, Onicha-Ugbo, has remained unfixed for over two years now, leading to almost total dilapidation, making it impassable for vehicles, motorcycles, and trucks.<br \/>\nThe Delta State government and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) have been called on by the agrarian community, for urgent intervention since the local council authorities were said to have done nothing to salvage the situation at the early stage of its deterioration.<\/p>\n<p>According to one of the town\u2019s residents, Ohia Emmanuel Chukwunweike :\u201cWith the way it is, our parents may find it difficult to go to their farms and Issele Uku market.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are calling on the NDDC, state government and all stakeholders to reconstruct the road with a proper drainage system urgently, let our people feel the dividend of democracy.\u201d<br \/>\nHon. Francis Osedume, another resident and a grassroots politician, said: \u201cIt is disheartening that both students and local farmers cannot access their schools and farms respectively due to the unfortunate nature of this road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joyce Iwelumo said, \u201cThis is a plea as an indigene of Onicha-Ugbo, I\u2019m pleading that our political representatives and the government of our dear state should please come to our aid in fixing the road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A concerned indigene of the town, Chidi Ogwugwua said: \u201cThe sight alone poses a danger, and it will be difficult for the commuters who ply this road daily to trace their parts without endangering their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Onicha-Ugbo community residents in Aniocha north local government area of Delta State have lamented the dilapidated state of their major roads.
