The police have deployed additional armed security personnel to the two palaces housing the contending emirs in the metropolitan LGAs in Kano.<\/p>\n
The outgoing police commissioner, AIG Usaini Gumel, confirmed this in a telephone interview on Monday.<\/p>\n
Mr Gumel said, \u201cEquipped and armed personnel have been deployed to handle any unforeseen circumstances around the identified areas.\u201d<\/p>\n
He explained that the deployment aims to prevent security threats and maintain a peaceful atmosphere pending the outcome of the emirship tussle.<\/p>\n
Mr Gumel said the command had reinforced its personnel deployment plans to ensure adequate security and peaceful coexistence in Kano.<\/p>\n
He added, \u201dArmed personnel have been deployed to provide security at the Kofar Kudu Palace, the residence of Emir Malam Mohammadu Sunusi, and the Nasarawa Mimi Palace, the residence of Emir Aminu Bayero.<\/p>\n
