Prof. Chidi Odinkalu (Pro-Chancellor\/Chairman, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu) and well-known philanthropist, High Chief Dr. Christopher Ndubuisi, were inducted as members of the governing council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Igbariam, Anambra State, by Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo.<\/p>\n
The event was conducted by Soludo on Wednesday at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Awka.<\/p>\n
Igwe Oranu is one of the council’s other members. AIG Chris Ezike (retired) and Chris Chidume<\/p>\n
As per the governor’s statement, the government regards the institution as the pinnacle of the state’s higher education system and has tasked it with creating an educational system that aligns with the state’s goals.<\/p>\n
“The main challenge you face is to work hard to revitalize and regenerate the university for the times we live in and the times to come,” the governor declared.<\/p>\n
“Are we equipping our kids to rule the world in the future? The university must develop a distinct character and brand of its own.<\/p>\n
“With the limited resources at your disposal, you must compete and dominate, but fiscal sustainability is one of the challenges.”<\/p>\n
He conveyed his enthusiasm for the university and said he hopes to see it emerge as Nigeria’s premier university, if not the industry leader.<\/p>\n
The governor reaffirmed his complete faith in the Council’s abilities and promised, subject to resource limitations, to assist the council in any way that was practical.<\/p>\n
In an interview with journalists about the development, High Chief Christopher Ndubuisi expressed gratitude to the governor for considering him deserving and vowed to use his influence to ensure that the Ojukwu University becomes a model for higher education.<\/p>\n
Among those in attendance at the inauguration were Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, Secretary to the State Government; Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Chief of Staff; Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Commissioner of Education; and Hon.
