Multiple users reported on Reddit that their premium plans were canceled, accompanied by email and in-app notifications explaining the cancellations.<\/p>\n<p>A Google support representative confirmed the crackdown, stating that YouTube is canceling memberships for accounts that falsified their signup country information, which violates YouTube&#8217;s Paid Terms of Service. The representative noted that affected users will receive notifications about the cancellation.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, many users opted to sign up for YouTube Premium in countries like Ukraine, where subscription rates are significantly lower (around $2.40\/month), compared to the US or UK where prices are higher (around $14-15\/month). YouTube recently raised its Premium prices for US users and extended the hike to long-term subscribers earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) are typically used for internet security and privacy but can also be used to mask a user&#8217;s location to access content or services available at lower rates in other countries.
