The man, who remains anonymous, had been exchanging messages with a sex worker via iMessage on his iPhone, believing they were deleted. However, his wife found the messages on their synced family iMac.<\/p>\n<p>Unaware that deleting messages on his iPhone did not remove them from all devices sharing the same Apple ID, the businessman now argues that Apple failed to inform users properly. He stated to The Times, &#8220;If you are told a message is deleted, you are entitled to believe it&#8217;s deleted.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Following the discovery, his wife filed for divorce, resulting in a \u00a35 million settlement. The businessman is now seeking \u00a35 million in damages from Apple, claiming the divorce could have been avoided if the messages were not found. He is also pushing for a class-action suit.<\/p>\n<p>The man&#8217;s lawyer, Simon Walter, argues that Apple should have explicitly warned users that deleting messages on one device does not remove them from all synced devices, suggesting a prompt like, &#8220;These messages are deleted on this device only.&#8221; Walter told The Telegraph, &#8220;Apple has not adequately informed users about what happens to messages they send, receive, and delete.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Walter also contends that Apple&#8217;s prompts are misleading, implying that messages are completely deleted when they remain on synced devices.
