A 35-year-old man has been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command for attempting to snatch a taxi from its driver in a violent altercation, as confirmed by Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson.<\/p>\n
The incident, reported to the Alausa Police Division on June 11 at approximately 1:40 a.m., involved the taxi driver recounting his ordeal. According to Hundeyin, the driver stated that around 1:20 a.m. on June 11, while servicing the Chevron area of Ajah, he was flagged down by the suspect under the guise of being a passenger.<\/p>\n
The driver recounted that the suspect requested a trip to the Shrine in Agidigbi, Alausa, Ikeja. Upon reaching Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way near 7UP in Alausa Ikeja, the suspect seated beside him suddenly brandished a knife from his bag, attempting to forcibly take control of the driver’s Toyota Camry.<\/p>\n
During the struggle to thwart the carjacking attempt, the driver sustained a deep knife wound on his hand. He managed to raise an alarm, prompting nearby citizens to intervene, forcing the suspect to flee. The Anti-Crime team from the Alausa police division later pursued and apprehended the suspect.<\/p>\n
“The suspect was taken into custody along with the vehicle as evidence, pending further investigation,” Hundeyin confirmed.<\/p>\n
