As reported by Android Police, this update allows users to set &#8220;HD&#8221; as the default upload quality for media files, eliminating the need to manually select the HD option each time. This enhancement streamlines the process of sharing high-quality content.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, users had to use workarounds, like attaching media as documents, to bypass WhatsApp&#8217;s compression. This cumbersome method added unnecessary steps to a typically straightforward task. The new update removes the need for such workarounds, ensuring photos and videos are shared in their best quality.<\/p>\n<p>Meta, WhatsApp&#8217;s parent company, had been developing this feature for some time. HD photo sharing was introduced last August, with media files marked by an HD label in the bottom left corner. This functionality has since expanded to include HD video sharing as well.<\/p>\n<p>Although HD isn&#8217;t entirely lossless, it significantly improves upon WhatsApp&#8217;s usual compression, which often reduced image and video quality to the point of being unrecognizable. This update ensures that important moments are shared with much better clarity.<\/p>\n<p>The new default setting was observed in WhatsApp&#8217;s beta version 2.24.13.10 by Android Police, indicating a broader rollout is imminent.<\/p>\n<p>Reactions to this update have been mixed. While many users appreciate the improved quality of HD uploads, WhatsApp cautions that these files consume more bandwidth and storage space.
