Modupe Ayandare, a 500-level agronomy student at Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko, was discovered dead off campus on Monday, prompting conflicting reactions and calls for a thorough investigation.<\/p>\n

According to PUNCH Online, Ayandare allegedly hanged herself around 4 a.m. near a church where she had attended a vigil. However, some Nigerians have disputed this account, questioning the positioning of her body and suggesting that it might not be a suicide.<\/p>\n

Oluwaseun Ogunmola, an activist, has urged the state government to investigate the incident to ensure justice is served. In an interview, Ogunmola expressed doubts about the suicide theory and called on the state police command to solve the mystery surrounding Ayandare’s death.<\/p>\n

“This is not the first time an AAUA undergraduate has been declared deceased under unclear circumstances. It is implausible and suspicious that it was a suicide based on the report and videos viewed so far. I plead with the state government to assist her family in obtaining justice for the departed,” Ogunmola stated.<\/p>\n

He questioned the circumstances surrounding her death, noting, “They said she went to a vigil and killed herself at 4 a.m. while traveling there. Why? How? What caused that to happen? One’s intuition tells one that there is more to her death after seeing the film, and many others agree that it does not appear to be a suicide.”<\/p>\n

Ogunmola also highlighted the need for a detailed investigation, adding, “Although I haven’t seen any updated reporting on the subject, the police are aware of this occurrence. We want an explanation for what happened.”<\/p>\n

Olaogbebikan Noble, the public relations officer for the Students’ Union, echoed these concerns, describing the circumstances as mysterious. “They stated a student had committed suicide yesterday, so we rushed to the location to be sure and found her knelt down with a rope around her neck. Before they could transfer her body to the morgue, they had to carry out a few customary ceremonies.”<\/p>\n

Noble pointed out anomalies at the scene, “The rope that we observed on her was loosely knotted at the top. We’re still not sure why the rope was supposed to be tight, even if she wanted to jump down. The State Criminal Investigation Department now has jurisdiction over the matter. We are unable to declare it to be suicide at this time.”<\/p>\n

The spokesperson for the state police command, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed in a text message that an inquiry is ongoing. “There is still work to be done,” Odunlami stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
