The list, which includes both federal and state-owned institutions, will be made public on June 24, 2024.

In a statement released on Thursday by the Head of Media, Nasir Ayitogo, NELFUND emphasized that the publication aims to ensure transparency and encourage active participation from both undergraduate applicants and tertiary institutions. The move is part of a broader effort to streamline access to education loans.

“It is commendable that many federal institutions have already completed this exercise in the first wave, and the process of uploading data to the NELFUND SVS is ongoing for state-owned institutions,” Ayitogo stated.

To access the fund, applicants must have their details included in their institution’s data submission to NELFUND SVS. This inclusion is crucial for the automatic verification process, which, if incomplete, would invalidate the application and disadvantage the applicants. NELFUND stressed the importance of the accuracy and completeness of the information provided by tertiary institutions.

The initiative follows President Bola Tinubu’s signing of the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill, 2024, into law on April 3.
