{"id":34281,"date":"2024-06-10T11:08:46","date_gmt":"2024-06-10T11:08:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=34281"},"modified":"2024-06-10T11:08:46","modified_gmt":"2024-06-10T11:08:46","slug":"japanese-govt-raids-honda-hq-amid-vehicle-test-fraud-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/06\/10\/japanese-govt-raids-honda-hq-amid-vehicle-test-fraud-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"Japanese Govt Raids Honda HQ Amid Vehicle Test Fraud Investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Japan\u2019s transport ministry has inspected\u00a0 Honda Motor Co.\u2019s headquarters in Tokyo after the company and other automakers admitted to carrying out improper tests for vehicle certifications required for mass production.<\/p>\n<p>According to local media reports, after the inspections, the ministry will decide whether to impose administrative punishments to prevent a recurrence.<\/p>\n<p>The report said it would also determine if recalls are required by examining whether the affected vehicles meet its safety and environmental performance standards.<\/p>\n<p>Honda said vehicle tests for 22 models were improperly conducted, including the reporting of falsified data.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, none of its current models are affected.<\/p>\n<p>Honda became the fourth company to be inspected under the road transport vehicle law, following Toyota Motor Corp., Yamaha Motor Co., and Suzuki Motor Corp., a week after five automakers unveiled safety tests that were not conducted following government specifications.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 38 models manufactured by the five automakers are affected.<\/p>\n<p>The report said six of the affected models produced by Toyota, Mazda, and Yamaha Motor are currently on the market, and the ministry has ordered shipments to be halted.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry would commence a probe into Mazda Motor Corp. soon, it added.<\/p>\n<p>The latest misconduct was disclosed after the ministry instructed 85 automakers and parts suppliers to investigate whether certifications were acquired properly.<\/p>\n<p>This followed a series of similar scandals that hit Toyota group firms in 2022 and later.<\/p>\n<div class=\"adredux after-para-one aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"adbox\">\n<div class=\"JC-WIDGET-DMROOT\" data-widget-id=\"ca69f5950aba1bbefee2c18f61cc5289\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"v-gazettengr-0\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n<div id=\"_vdo_ads_player_ai_25112\" class=\"vdo_video_unit vdo_content\">\n<div id=\"vdo_logo_parent\">\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japan\u2019s transport ministry has inspected\u00a0 Honda Motor Co.\u2019s headquarters in Tokyo after the company and other automakers admitted to carrying out improper tests for vehicle certifications required for mass production.
