According to an official statement shared on the Nigerian Army\u2019s X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, the terrorists fled upon the arrival of military personnel. The army reported that all the abandoned passengers were successfully rescued.<\/p>\n
The statement detailed the army\u2019s swift response to a distress call, deploying troops to engage \u201cthe terrorists, who were armed with assorted weapons.\u201d A fierce firefight ensued, forcing the terrorists to abandon their captives and escape.<\/p>\n
The rescued passengers have been taken into safe custody and are currently receiving necessary care and support. The army added that its troops are actively pursuing the fleeing terrorists to ensure they are brought to justice.<\/p>\n
A video attached to the statement features a grateful passenger named Andrew, who recounted the harrowing experience. He expressed profound gratitude to the soldiers for their timely intervention.<\/p>\n
Andrew shared, \u201cIf not for the help of the Nigerian Army, they would have kidnapped us. Some people are missing till now, our properties were taken, thanks to the soldiers. Our drivers and others are missing.\u201d<\/p>\n
He further described the attackers, emphasizing their violent nature and identifying them as Fulani. \u201cThey were serious armed robbers, Fulanis. We saw them clearly, they are Fulani people with guns. They butchered some people among us, they collected our money, they did lots of things to us. But thank God for keeping me strong and alive, and thanks also to the Nigerian soldiers who came to rescue us.
