Salihu Mohammed Lukman, former National Vice Chairman, North-West, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on opposition parties and key stakeholders to mobilize Nigerians to oust the APC in the 2027 elections.<\/p>\n
In a statement released on Saturday, Lukman, who previously served as the Director-General of the Progressive Governors\u2019 Forum (PGF), emphasized that removing the APC from power is crucial to addressing the myriad challenges facing the nation.<\/p>\n
He argued that a united front among opposition parties and the Nigerian populace could replicate past successes, such as the coalition that ended military rule and the alliance that defeated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians are suffering from rampant killings, kidnappings for ransom, food shortages, increased electricity tariffs, and the soaring costs of transportation and goods, all exacerbated by the removal of fuel subsidies by the APC-led government,” Lukman stated.<\/p>\n
He urged patriotic Nigerians and democrats to rally together to create a viable democratic alternative to the APC and the multitude of existing political parties. “We must summon the courage and believe in the power of possibility,” Lukman said.<\/p>\n
“Just as we managed to push the military back to the barracks and oust the PDP in 2015, it is feasible to establish a politically viable and truly popular democratic platform that can place the APC in its rightful context and counter the current unplanned, extreme right-wing leadership of President Asiwaju Tinubu.”<\/p>\n
Lukman stressed the importance of mobilizing Nigerians to reject dishonest politicians who manipulate their way to power and treat citizens as subjugated subjects. “Democracy loses its value if it merely results in electing civilian overlords,” he concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
